I picked this book up because the cover interested me as did the synopsis however I got bored of it easily. The topic of this book was very enticing (people got new memories because in the future humans became immortal and they needed to get new memories ever so often in order to restart their life). However, when I read it I just couldn’t hold on to it. I agree this might just be because I’m just not that sophisticated to read this book however I found my self daydreaming about this topic rather than actually reading the book. Overall it wasn’t terrible but I just couldn’t finish it.

In class, we did “speed dating” for books. During that, a peer of mine was presenting this book to me which I have heard about and wanted to read for some time because there was a lot of hype about it. Did it live up to the hype? Absolutely! This book was incredible to the wording and sentence structure to the imagery it created. It intertwined with the good and evil of the world in a realistic manner and since there are 2 narrators it lets you view more of both characters. I haven’t finished it yet but it is so far truly amazing!

I got this book back in grade 7 but I didn’t read it till now. It was kind of a let down… the language was bland and I found myself drifting away from the book.

This is a poetry book that I loved so much I read it twice and finished it the first time in one sitting. The overall words used were beautifully crafted and I loved every part of this book. I even gave it to my close friends to read as well so we could talk about it. This book is a must-read for anyone because it connects to anyone (but it is for more of the female readers).

December/January 2019

Books:

  1. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (238 pages)
  2. Pillow Thoughts by Cortney Peppernell (272 pages)
  3. End of Days by Eric Walters (201 pages)

Altogether I read 711 pages. This averages out to about 11 pages per day for the 2 months. I was happy I got reading done in these 2 months since it was really hectic with exams and such.

This is a very interesting book which I got interested in after hearing about it in a Writer’s Seminar. I enjoyed it especially because I learned new words basically everyday reading it which I liked and the language was nice after I got into the groove of the story. I also generally enjoyed the theme and how the character knew he was dirtying his soul but it felt worth it to him to be able to not show that on his face. I didn’t always enjoy all the descriptions however and sometimes I did find myself getting a little bored when it drifted on for two or more pages. It was also and some points quite predictable; but all in all, I did enjoy this read.

This is a poetry book that I enjoyed reading. I especially liked that it was broken into sections of what your feeling and then you can read that section if you wanted based on how you were that day. I found that breaking into sections was a very interesting idea and maybe one day if I write enough poetry I could do that myself one day!
